His new book joins the distinguished American Presidents Series, offering a portrait of the 40th chief executive that challenges assumptions about his political philosophy. Reagan’s conservativism, Weisberg argues, did not preclude compromise, and his rejection of nuclear arms was as firm as his antipathy to big government.
