Angela P. Dodson, "Remember The Ladies"

Drawing her title from Abigail Adams’s admonition to her husband as he prepared for the Second Continental Congress in 1776, Dodson has compiled a rich history of the roles women have played in American politics since the country’s beginning. A contributing editor for Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, Dodson focuses closely on women’s fight to gain the vote, which they won just a hundred years ago. Informative and inspiring, Dodson’s book includes a variety of photos, drawings, posters, and other ephemera that illustrate both the high points of women’s struggle for equal rights and the many smaller steps between the speeches and victories.

Dodson is in conversation with Carol Richards, a founding editor of USA Today and current lecturer at George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs. Moderating their discussion will be Dorothy Gilliam, longtime columnist for The Washington Post and former president of the National Association of Black Journalists.
