When Bonow, then a Seattle bartender, had an abortion in 2015, she thanked Planned Parenthood on her Facebook page. Then a friend of Bonow’s shared the post on Twitter. Soon other women were using social media platforms to tell their abortion stories, and a movement, #ShoutYourAbortion, came to life. In this anthology, Bonow has gathered photos, essays, and artwork from some of the hundreds of women from all across the country who have told the stories of their abortions. The contributors represent a range of ethnicities, ages, and classes; each tells a unique story, and each is unapologetic and adamant about fighting all efforts to restrict the right to a safe and legal abortion.
