Purposeful, not intentional:
Psychopathic abuse is both goal-oriented (purposeful) and intentional. Narcissistic abuse is purposeful - but not intentional.
Not as abuse, but as:
Benevolent altruism (tough love): prosocial reframing
Necessary corrective measures (to avoid adverse outcomes or for the greater good)
As a reactive survival strategy, a defense against abuse and exploitation (victim stance)
As justified punishment or retribution
As common behavior and a sign of honesty and forthrightness (no hypocrisy)
