Lessons from the attack on Parliament, one year later: Remember the victims

Brian Lilley of TheRebel.Media reports, the Parliament Hill terrorist attack of October 22, 2014, is one of those moments in your life that you'll never forget; you'll forever recall exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news.

It was a long day filled with uncertainty about what happened and why. This was understandable in the aftermath of the shocking events but eventually, we knew.

But, I wonder, have we learned any lessons from the events?

Too many people seemed to want to dismiss what happened to Corporal Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent as "lone wolf attacks", or mental illness.

In the end, they could not and even the opposition leaders came around to calling it what it was.

But as time passes and political changes come, I worry that we might get lulled into a false sense of security

I worry that we may lose the resolve we need for this fight against dangerous and evil ideas. In that fight it's critical that we know we're right, and they're wrong and we can't let the jihadist mentality win.
