Sheila Gunn Reid of TheRebel.Media reports: Rachel Notley introduced her carbon tax and it will hit families hard. We all knew it was coming. We all knew the deck was stacked against us from the very beginning. If you were shocked by the NDP announcement then you haven't been paying attention.
Notley's carbon tax is a tax on everything. If it moves or grows, then you're paying. According to the Canadian Tax Payer's Federation, this new tax will cost the average Alberta household $320 per year in 2017. It jumps to a whopping $470 per year in 2018.
That’s a lot. But I like to make things real. I wanted to know what this meant for families like yours and mine. What will this tax grab mean to our household budgets? 100,000 Albertans are unemployed and 58,000 are on EI. It's not like families have disposable income right now.
So what real things might Alberta families have to give up to pay for Rachel Notley's superstition in year 2017? How about dental check ups and summer camp in 2017? What about snow tires and minor hockey in year 2018?
Normal families are going to have to make some tough decisions going forward. And for what? How much of an impact will killing all these Alberta jobs do to save the world from becoming a climate fire ball of doom? Nothing. The oil sands accounts for one tenth of one percent of global emissions. Shutting them all down won't save the planet.
But that’s not the point. It's about money, my money in the government's pocket.

The NDP budget is a disaster. Over 50,000 are out of work. Investment is fleeing the province.
