Sheila Gunn Reid of TheRebel.Media reports: We have a made in Alberta recession right now. And there is no end in sight.
Alberta has seen a doubling of employment insurance claims since this time last year. That’s a lot of families hurting going into the Christmas season. Alberta food banks are now feeling the strain as families struggle to choose whether to pay for housing or for food.
In fact, the food bank in Fort MacMurray has seen a 70% increase in usage. That’s heartbreaking.
I feel like we need to do something to help. I'm sure you do too. I am asking for your help to raise $5,000 for food banks across Alberta. Let's help our food banks fill their shelves and fill the hearts of our fellow Albertans with a little hope, if only for a day. Albertans are proud. Albertans are charitable. It’s time we took care of our own.
Please watch my short video about it above.
This is personal for me. I'm an oil patch mom. I understand how important the industry is. When Premier Notley calls the public sector the "backbone of Alberta," I know she's wrong. It's us. It’s the oil patch.

The NDP budget is a disaster. Over 50,000 are out of work. Investment is fleeing the province.
