Sheila Gunn Reid of TheRebel.Media reports:
There is a high social cost to bad economic policy.
Families and communities across the province are struggling through some of the worst times Alberta has seen in a generation. There has been a doubling in EI claims and estimates say there are 100,000 people out of work.
Food bank usage has spiked all across the province. Some places like Fort McMurray are especially hard hit, seeing a 75% uptick in food bank demand.
Homeless shelters, like Inn from the Cold in Calgary have seen a 130% increase in need for their services since the same time last year.
Property crime is up by 18% in Edmonton and violent crime is up 12% since last year.
And now there's a sudden surge in suicides in Alberta, jumping more than 30% in just the first half of the year. Statistics say that those suicide numbers often increase around the Holidays.
It's gotten so bad that the Wildrose Party called for an emergency debate in the legislature on the societal cost of the economy.
Let's see what the Notley government is doing to mitigate these horrible problems in Alberta.
They're making everything that we grow or move cost more with a carbon tax - basically a PST on everything struggling Albertans buy. They're making food cost more by piling union style labor costs onto farming operations with Bill 6, they're scaring off oil and gas investment with a risky and unnecessary royalty review. They're making it harder for businesses to create jobs through a raise in the minimum wage. They're stifling business growth with a raise in corporate income tax.
The NDP are doing nothing to mitigate what's happening in Alberta. In fact, it looks like they're doing everything they can to make the societal problems in Alberta worse. But that’s really what they want. Isn't it?
If the NDP have to collapse it all just to build it back up their way, well that’s just the cost of building their socialist utopia.
Alberta families are just collateral damage, a sacrifice on the altar of Al Gore and government control.

The NDP budget is a disaster. Over 50,000 are out of work. Investment is fleeing the province.
SIGN THE PETITION to tell Rachel Notley stop her war on Alberta oil and gas jobs:
In Alberta, some families have to choose between paying for housing or food.
PLEASE HELP restock Alberta's food banks this Christmas season!
