7:12Now PlayingThe American Civil Liberties Union and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund are asking Mayor Karen Weaver and the Flint City Council to issue a moratorium on the placement of liens on Flint homes for unpaid water bills.
A news release says the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund is also urging city officials to suspend the local lien efforts.
"Not only is placing liens for unpaid water bills on Flint homeowners' properties unjust, but it raises serious legal concerns," Moss wrote. "Initially, when the city enters into an agreement to provide water to Flint residents in return for payment, there is an implied agreement ... that the water is fit for drinking." []
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver spoke with Roland Martin during Tuesday’s edition of #RolandMartinUnfiltered about the ongoing crisis in Flint and about the outrageous water liens that could force residents out of their homes.
