Although no coronavirus cases have been reported at the Prince George's county Correctional Center, State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy says reducing numbers now is a good idea.
Braveboy joins the ACLU who sent a request to Attorney General William Barr saying, "The public health crisis presented by the coronavirus highlights the need for the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Prisons to take immediate action to safeguard those under its care. Time is of the essence and the Bureau of Prisons must act swiftly and responsibly to ensure that the 122 facilities in its system housing nearly a quarter of people, over 10,000 of who are over 60 years old are safe."
Prince George's County States Attorney, Aisha Braveboy and Dylan Hayre, ACLU Justice Division strategist spoke with Roland Martin about the calls for low-risk inmates to be released from prisons amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
