14:47Now PlayingAn Aurora police officer has been indicted for second-degree murder and reckless manslaughter after fatally shooting a Black man during a 2025 traffic stop. Roland Martin says the bodycam raises the central question: why was lethal force used at all?

An Arapahoe County grand jury has indicted Aurora police officer Matthew Neely on charges of second-degree murder and reckless manslaughter for fatally shooting Rajon Belt-Stubblefield during a 2025 traffic stop.
The bodycam audio played during the segment captures officers shouting commands before shots are fired. Roland Martin says the shooting was not justified, and the discussion repeatedly asks why Neely moved to lethal force instead of using a Taser or another non-lethal option.
Civil rights attorney Milo Schwab, who represents Rajon Belt-Stubblefield’s family, says the indictment is about more than one case. He calls it a day of accountability, fairness and justice and says police officers who commit crimes should be treated like any other member of the community.
Mustafa Santiago Ali says Black people are often dehumanized, seen as more violent and treated as a greater threat, leading officers to pull the trigger on Black people in situations where others may be given more restraint.
