Roland Martin unloads on Donald Trump after Trump said he would declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory. Roland calls the idea ridiculous, compares it to Trump’s Greenland takeover talk, and says Iran is not going to simply hand over one of the world’s most important waterways.

Michael Imhotep, host of The African History Network Show in Detroit, argues that the rhetoric is about projecting strength while Trump has no clear way out of the Iran conflict. Imhotep says Trump “suffers from the strong man mentality” and thought Iran would roll over. Roland says Trump got into the war and “he ain't got no way out.”

Candace Kelley, legal analyst and host of Takeaway with Candace Kelley in South Orange, New Jersey, says Trump keeps making declarations designed to dominate the conversation and feed his fixation on legacy and putting his name on things. Civil rights attorney Matt Manning of Corpus Christi, Texas, connects the rhetoric to a “manifest destiny America” where leaders simply point at something and say it belongs to them.

Roland’s verdict is direct: “You are losing.” He also says Trump’s rhetoric comes while service members remain deployed and Americans deal with the broader consequences of the conflict.
