A Republican congressman says Congress should “do a little more” for the rich, and Roland Martin cannot believe he said it out loud. After replaying the remark, Roland responds, “wow, Candace, we should do a little bit more for the rich. Really,” before ripping the argument against the reality facing working Americans.

Roland says the so-called “big beautiful bill” was “ugly and shameful” and “hook[ed] rich folks up in a huge way.” His judgment of the congressman’s comment is even sharper: “You got to really be stupid to make a claim like that in today's economy.”

Candace Kelley, legal analyst and host of Takeaway with Candace Kelley, points to housing pressure, job insecurity and the hundreds of thousands of Black women who have lost jobs. Matt Manning, a civil rights attorney, says “there is a massive hoarding of wealth” at the top and argues wealthy Americans are already getting a very good deal from government.

Michael Imhotep, host of The African History Network Show, says the wealthy do not need more help while ordinary people are making “life altering decisions” over medication, food and gas. Roland closes the segment by rejecting claims that the economy is doing well: “Fox News can yell and scream all they want to but this is not a great economy.”
