David Crowley Wins Wild Wisconsin Primary. Now He Takes On Trump’s “Lap Dog” Tom Tiffany

David Crowley is the Democratic nominee for governor of Wisconsin after one of the wildest primary runs of the cycle.

Roland Martin lays out the chaos: Crowley dropped out of the race, got back in, missed the first 10 days of early voting, and still won by a few thousand votes. Crowley says there was too much at stake to sit on the sidelines and that three weeks after reentering, he became the Democratic nominee.

Now the fight turns to Republican Tom Tiffany. Crowley calls Tiffany a “MAGA extremist” and says he has “done nothing but be a lap dog to Donald Trump.” He also says Tiffany is the only person he knows in Wisconsin who has voted with Trump 100% of the time.

Crowley says his campaign will focus on affordability, health care, child care, housing, jobs, education and raising Wisconsin’s $7.25 minimum wage. On data centers, he says communities should not be forced to accept them, taxpayers should not pay their infrastructure costs, and big tech should be required to pay its way.

Roland also presses Crowley on Black turnout in Milwaukee, pointing to the 50,000-vote drop-off in Mandela Barnes’ Senate race and arguing that Black turnout must reach at least 70% in heavily Black areas. Crowley says the Black community is foundational to who he is and that his campaign will not move forward without intentionally including Black voters and Black media.
