1:49Now PlayingTyrese Gibson is rejecting the narrative that Black men don't support Black women and making it clear he's going all in for Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Speaking during the Men for Keisha Lance Bottoms live campaign broadcast, Tyrese called the narrative “tired” and said the Black men showing up for Bottoms are evidence that it isn't true.
“Look at all the Black men on this call. Look at how many Black men continue to show up and have always shown up.”
Tyrese said his commitment goes far beyond appearing on the broadcast. He said he's already active, directly communicating with Bottoms and prepared to use “every resource imaginable” to support her.
For the father of two Black daughters, including a 19-year-old attending college in Atlanta, the stakes are also deeply personal.
“I cannot wake up every day as a Black man raising two Black daughters acting as if it's okay to continue being on the receiving end of what they wanna dump on my life. I can't do it.”
Tyrese says he's “unapologetically doing whatever it takes” to support Keisha Lance Bottoms.
