Bryant highlighted what he described as the largest ticket of Black women running statewide in the nation’s history, including Keisha Lance Bottoms for governor, Penny Brown Reynolds for secretary of state, Tonya Moore for attorney general, Keisha Waithe for insurance commissioner, Nikki Porcher for labor commissioner, Dr. Lydia Powell for state superintendent of schools and Sheila Edwards for public service commissioner.
Bryant tied his call directly to economic concerns facing Black men, citing a 6.9% unemployment rate and saying Black men in Georgia lead every other demographic in unemployment.
He also pointed to the previous gubernatorial election, saying Gov. Brian Kemp won by approximately 55,000 votes while 400,000 Black Georgians did not vote.
His message to Black men was urgent:
“Go get ’em.”
From barbershops and basketball courts to churches, fraternity meetings, Masonic halls and Falcons games, Bryant called on Black men to reach others throughout their communities.
“Tell ’em our lives depend on it.”
