He compared it to spending his energy securing a better deck chair on the Titanic instead of asking who funded the ship and whether it was ever meant to reach New York, arguing that powerful interests often benefit the most from the very crises that devastate everyone else. Sometimes the real question isn't how to survive the sinking ship, it's who built it.
