Russell reacted to reports of microneedle patch implants funded by the Gates Foundation, essentially a small comb-like device pressed into the skin that installs quantum dots detectable by smartphones, floated as a possible future vaccine passport system that wouldn't even require a phone, just a scan of your skin. Russell leaned fully into the satire, joking that Bill Gates finally gets his moment of revenge after a nerdish school reputation, now armed with lipid nanoparticles instead of a dodgeball target on his back. He pivoted into a more serious point though, admitting that even claims from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s book that once sounded too extreme to believe kept turning out to have some grounding. His guest connected it to a much older pattern in public health, using the story of Ignaz Semmelweis, a doctor in 1850s Vienna who discovered handwashing dramatically reduced infection deaths, only to be mocked, discredited, and eventually institutionalized for it. Sometimes the people right about something inconvenient are the last ones anyone wants to believe.
