Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn opened the House select committee examining the events of Jan. 6 with gut-wrenching testimony. Dunn recalled how rioters hurled racial slurs as the attacked him and other officers during the January 6 riot. How will @FoxNews and the right-wing media respond? Sam Seder: There were hearings yesterday on Capitol Hill the Select Committee Hearing on January 6. Remember, this is the one that the Republicans tried to put Jim Jordan and Jim Banks on, and of course, Jim Jordan is somebody that you might want to call as a witness, or in fact, in some respects, could arguably be a subject of the Committee's investigation.

Emma Vigeland: Well that's what Liz Cheney was saying yesterday. I think Congressman Jordan may well be a material witness.

Sam Seder: Yeah.

Emma Vigeland: Love that little feud, by the way. They can do infighting, too.

Sam Seder: Indeed, indeed. And I want to reiterate this, if anybody's listened to this program in the past, but I am happy to see the Republicans eat each other, frankly. And I want them, I want to, I don't know how physically it happens that they could literally just eat each other and all that would be left would be like a couple of bones from both sides. Emma Vigeland: Sam Seder's pro-cannibalism, I guess, on this program today. But that's fine.

Sam Seder: That's fine. I'm okay with that. But nevertheless, it does help from a narrative standpoint to have someone like Cheney on the the panel. I find her politics reprehensible in every other facet. But if it makes it difficult for the Republicans to claim that this is a Democratic witch hunt, then fine. However, this is a a fascinating theme. I guess we could play this thing with Elise Stefanick. This is... Or maybe we should actually play the Harry Dunn. Let's do that first. This is rather disturbing. Capitol police officer Harry Dunn describes the way that he was — and remember, you've got Republican lawmakers who said this is basically tourists...

Emma Vigeland: Yeah, just like basically the equivalent of a Capitol tour that you would go on in seventh grade. That kind of deal.

Sam Seder: Exactly. And Harry Dunn describes the vitriol that he heard from January 6th rioters. Here he is addressing the committee.

Harry Dunn: One woman in a pink MAGA shirt yelled, "You hear that guys this N-word voted for Joe Biden. Then the crowd, perhaps around 20 people, joined in screaming boo f-ing N-word.

No one had ever ever called me a N-word while wearing the uniform of a Capitol Police Officer.

Harry Dunn: In the days following the attempted insurrection, other Black officers shared with me their own stories of racial abuse on January 6th. One officer told me he had never in his entire 40 years of life been called a N-word to his face, and that streak ended on January 6.

Yet another Black officer later told me he had been confronted by insurrectionists in the Capitol who told him, "Put your gun down, and we'll show you what kind of N-word you really are."

Sam Seder: Obviously, I don't know how surprising that is, although I gotta say I was surprised. That was sort of... I don't know. I don't know why I would be surprised. But I still found it uh incredibly shocking. This type of of racism is not a federal crime. To say those things it is not a crime. To say those things to anybody, frankly. Nevertheless the attempts by the Republicans to make this about something other than it was...
