Many Haitians have migrated to Mexico seeking food to seek refuge in the US. The Majority Report crew dissents at how many refugees are being expelled without proper deportation procedures due to laws passed under Trump and how this is a loss for the chance to file for asylum.

Sam Seder: The one thing I want to cover is that Al Jazeera report from the Rio Grande, this is horrific so we talked about how there have been several thousand Haitian immigrant refugees who essentially were living under a bridge somewhere near the Rio Grande, right which is well at least this is where this report takes place, but there was a bridge in Texas ... at Del Rio Texas and I think they were brought there by ICE? The point is that to my understanding is that the order by the federal judge, title 42 cannot be used by the Biden administration and has been appealed. So it's not the enjoining of the use of that rule is not in effect. Title 42 was basically an emergency covered provision which the Trump administration started to use immediately without any type of due process deport which I think is probably the wrong word because it's not a legal proceeding and that you know it's not legally deportation because deportation requires a process this was just basically expulsion as soon as you get immigrants you can expel them regardless of giving them an opportunity to go through the system and apply for temporary protected status which is a big issue for Haitians. Asylum in general which is like the what we're supposed to be doing under international law and United States law. Allowing for that to happen nine thousand Haitians who were being held in this area under a bridge. Remember that Haiti has barely recovered from the earthquake from over 10 years ago, there was another earthquake over the summer just after the assassination of its president and then a tropical storm like days later after I mean over two thousand thousand died in this in this earthquake...
