1:18Now PlayingRepublicans continue to block an extension of unemployment benefits to struggling Americans. Sen. George LeMieux today on the Senate floor claimed that this extension of UI and COBRA benefits "is not an emergency" and demands that the Senate find a way to pay for it.
Economist Mark Zandi, however, noted today that while "it would be desirable if the costs of the unemployment benefits were paid for....it would be counterproductive to try and offset it this year or the next."
