The senators and advocates will say that the president’s choice to sabotage the Affordable Care Act by creating uncertainty in the system and ending cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments, which keep premiums low, to states each month will lead to less care and higher costs for millions of Americans. The Senate Democrats will say there is still time for President Trump and the GOP to come to the table and work in a bipartisan way to improve the healthcare system, but instead the president is choosing to sabotage it through executive order. The Democrats and advocates will point to a recent report that shows that this could lead to premiums increasing by an additional 20 percent next year, and they will urge the GOP and President Trump to back off of their sabotage efforts so millions of families are not hurt.
