May 23, 201310:32Now PlayingSenator Barbara Boxer (DCA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), today pressed Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Allison Macfarlane on the NRC's ongoing safety review and investigations of California's San Onofre nuclear power plant. The San Onofre nuclear power plant, which is located in a seismic and tsunami zone, has been shut down since January 2012 after a leak of radioactive material led to the discovery of unexpected deterioration of tubes in the plant's new steam generators. The EPW Committee met to consider Macfarlane's renomination as NRC Chairman. A full webcast of the hearing can be found here
