Dr. Mordechai Kedar explains why Israel must never allow its enemies to view it as weak, divided or vulnerable.
According to Kedar’s interpretation of traditional Islamic doctrine and the life of Muhammad, a stronger enemy may be offered temporary peace—but that agreement can be abandoned if the balance of power changes and an opportunity for victory emerges.
Kedar argues that Israel can preserve peace only through overwhelming deterrence. In his words, Israel must remain united, consolidated, threatening in its response and effectively invincible. If Israel maintains that strength permanently, he argues, its “temporary peace” can also continue indefinitely.
