YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe legislature is that part of the government which makes, amends, or repeals laws. This is primarily done by the parliament of any country. In Pakistan, the function of the legislature is done by the Majlis-e-Shura of Pakistan. There are a total of 336 legislatures in the National Assembly of Pakistan. These legislatures represent different regions of Pakistan. They sit in the parliament and make laws. Besides the national assembly, the senate also plays an important role in the making of the laws. A law can emerge in any house of the parliament except the money bill. The money bill can only be originated in the national assembly. There are different functions of the legislatures. The primary functions of the legislatures include; legislation, financial functions, administrative functions, and amendment to the constitution. These functions are common to the parliaments of all the world. Whether it is the parliament of India or it is the United States Congress, the legislature plays a similar role.
The organization of the legislature vary from country to country. In smaller countries, the legislature usually consists of one house. It is called a single house chamber or unicameral legislature. In this type of legislature, there used to be only one house in which lawmakers sit and make laws for the country. The parliament of Norway and Bangladesh are examples. On the other hand, in some countries of the world, the legislature consists of two houses. It is known as a bicameral legislature. The lower house in this type of legislature is known as the National Assembly or congress in the USA. The upper house is known as the Senate. The national assembly represent the people of that country while the senate represents the federating units.
Besides this, people can also act as legislators in some cases. This includes; referendum, plebiscite, and initiative. In these instances, people themselves decide where they want to go. This type of legislation is rare and only happens in rare instances.
