as posted by the channelIt's unbelievable that we have women in the church who are absolutely OFFENDED by seeing more and more women making the CHOICE to cover our heads while in the HOLY sanctuary of our Lord.
Although Canon law changed the requirement of head coverings for women in mass, it did NOT abdicate it. Which means that today's woman can make the rightful choice to cover her head or not.
For me, it all made sense when I thought about it. First and foremost it is the highest outward expression and symbolism that I am covered by Him. Fully protected by Our Lord. Next, it is an outward expression of my FULL submission to His will. Full submission to Him always.
It is a symbol of the virtue of modesty, that only grows and is appreciated the deeper you get into spiritual life.
Veiling honors the Sacred feminine in our Liturgy. In scripture, we the church are the BRIDE of the Lord. And the Holy Eucharist is the banquet. The wedding feast spoken so clearly about in Revelation and other parts of the Bible. How do YOU show up to the feast of The Lamb? (Matthew 22:1-14)
And let's not forget the beautiful lesson taught to us in 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 about the order of submission unto Our Lord, in marriage, and in life.
Don't ever let anyone make you feel embarrassed, ashamed, or prideful for CHOOSING to veil. In fact, more Catholic women on the road to deeper their connection with Our Lord should absolutely consider it. Whether you go to a Novus Ordo or TLM parish. Always show up dressed for the Sacred Occasion.
