We Have To End Fossil Fuels Before They End Us W/ Bill McKibben

We can't afford to play nice when it comes to climate change. Fossil fuel extraction and profiteers are our enemies. They want to keep making 10–30 years of profit, but the planet literally cannot cannot abide this without life-ending destruction. Luckily, the Biden administration appears to be taking it seriously, as environmental activist, professor, and author Bill McKibben (350.org) believes. McKibben joins Francesca Fiorentini to discuss this opportunity, this window of time in our history to transition to renewable energy once and for all. They discuss the ways that so much fossil fuel money has also bought our political system, and fed us misinformation through right-wing media outlets.

Luckily, he and others, such as Naomi Klein, have been fighting a heroic fight against monsters like the Koch brothers for nearly a decade, and have raised about $15 TRILLION in endowments and portfolios to support a movement to divest from fossil fuel companies.

Is there hope? Maybe! The next decade is incredibly important with regard to how the planet will ultimately fare. McKibben gives us a few indicators of how he thinks things might be going politically.
