Outside the courtroom, many conservative justices of the Supreme Court are flouting professional ethics left and right, but it’s what’s happening inside the court that is far more dangerous. Gone should be any idea that the justices are there to call balls and strikes, these folks are there to do what they have been groomed to do by the conservative legal apparatus. We discuss this circus with Rhiannon Hamam of the 5-4 podcast.
While liberals in the White House and Senate dither around the edges, this session, the Court has already moved to repeal the most significant regulations against bump stocks (from a case against a Trump imposed regulatory ban made in the wake of a massacre in Las Vegas) and while they’ve left the rights of pregnant people hanging by a thread, they’ve also opened taken jabs at marriage inequality by ruling on greed marriages.
Still pending: presidential immunity, criminalizing homelessness, a Jan 6 related decision, and emergency abortion care.
