Trump has said on countless occasions that Elon Musk is running DOGE to get rid of wasteful government spending. Now, in a recent court filing, the White House is claiming that Musk has never been involved with DOGE. Even Fox News hosts were confused, as they asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to explain who is actually in charge. Of course she just dodged the question by repeating that Musk is a ‘special government employee’. At this point, Musk and Trump are doing the ‘I don’t know her’ meme to DOGE!
It’s pretty clear what the tactic is here. The Trump administration is shielding Elon from any legal responsibility that could be coming his way, on account of all the blatantly unconstitutional stuff he’s doing. From illegal firings of government employees, to withholding federal funds only congress has a right to distribute, a flurry of lawsuits have been filed in response. But Trump and Musk have spent their whole lives doing obviously illegal stuff and getting away with it. Why would they stop now?
