13:49Now PlayingThe Supreme Court just handed down another anti-trans ruling, saying that barring trans kids from sports is not discrimination. Movement-building reporter Lex McMenamin joined Francesca to talk about the scapegoating of trans people to further justify fascism.
With the Supreme Court ruling that the states are allowed to ban trans kids from participating in sports, this must be a really serious issue right? According to the NCAA, there are less than 10 trans athletes competing right now. So this is just the court being needlessly cruel to further oppress one of the most marginalized groups in the country. Thankfully this ruling doesn’t undue laws in states that allow for trans athletes, but it does pave the way for further discriminatory laws to come.
SCOTUS is fully a political body designed to execute Project 2025, and it’s our most marginalized communities that are suffering the consequences. And this all comes back to the failure of Democrats to govern effectively under the Biden administration. They had the chance to expand the court, but the centrist Dems don’t care about the fascism they helped usher in. Hence why we need to bring in more progressive, Democratic Socials into our representation to actually fight back.
