YouTube Description
as posted by the channelKevin O’Leary says one of the things Steve Jobs understood better than most people was the signal to noise ratio.
The signal is the small number of things that actually matter today. It is not your five year vision, your long term strategy, or the endless list of things you could do at some point. It is the three to five things that must get done in the next 18 hours because they move the mission forward.
Everything else is noise.
The noise is the meeting that did not need to happen. It is the email that could have waited. It is the distraction that feels urgent but does not actually matter. It is anything that pulls you away from the work that really needs your attention.
For Jobs, the goal was to spend most of your time on the signal and as little time as possible on the noise. Kevin says the ratio should be 80 percent signal and 20 percent noise.
It sounds obvious, but it is probably where most people lose the day.
Not because they do not know what they want.
But because they let the noise take over.
