2:59:38Now PlayingBillionaire investor Scott Bessent, President-Trump’s pick to head the Treasury Department, will testify before the Senate Finance Committee Thursday morning.
During the confirmation hearing, Bessent is expected to paint the Trump administration as an opportunity for an “economic golden age,” according to prepared remarks.
If advanced, he would be the first openly LGBTQ Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate under a Republican president. His nomination comes as Trump calls for major tariffs and changes in the U.S. approach to global trade.
The hedge fund CEO has also vowed to divest from many of his assets if he is confirmed.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. EST.
