3:31Now PlayingArchitects employed by President Trump to build a new ballroom at the White House will give an update on the project Thursday before the National Capitol Planning Commission.
The meeting comes months after construction began on the $400 million project and after the Trump administration submitted its official plans to the commission. The ballroom is expected to be completed by 2028.
The renovations, which are mostly funded by private donations, have drawn scrutiny and legal battles after the East Wing was demolished last year. The president has justified the expenditure as a matter of national security.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
