1:13:36Now PlayingVice President Vance and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Thursday afternoon, a day after a woman was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis.
The Trump administration has sought to justify the deadly shooting as an act of self-defense. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Wednesday that the victim, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, was attempting to use her vehicle as a weapon against the ICE officer and struck him.
The explanation, which has been backed by President Trump and others in the administration, has drawn scrutiny among Democrats and city officials.
Vance on Thursday morning called the criticism "gaslighting."
The briefing also comes as the Trump administration faces questions over its recent actions in Venezuela.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
