Siegel and Sagui Dekel-Chen — a dual U.S.-Israel citizen — were released on Feb. 1, 2025, as part of the first phase of a temporary Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal in Gaza. The duo was among the hostages taken captive by the Palestinian militant group during its Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
The first lady, according to the White House advisory, also met with his wife, Aviva Siegel, ahead of his release date.
The event comes after the Trump administration established a "Board of Peace" to oversee Gaza's reconstruction and as Israel and Hamas are locked in another fragile ceasefire deal.
The conversation is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. EST.
