38:43Now PlayingWhite House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters on Thursday afternoon, a day after President Trump signaled his administration could use a “softer touch” on immigration enforcement.
The shift comes as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is facing backlash after two U.S. citizens were shot and killed by federal agents in separate incidents last month in Minneapolis — sparking calls for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to step aside and a battle over long-term funding for the agency.
Trump is also set to officially launch TrumpRx.gov later Thursday, a direct-to-consumer, lower-cost platform for prescription drugs. The launch is directly related to the administration’s “most favored nation” drug pricing policy unveiled last year.
He will be joined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The briefing is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EST.
