5:30Now PlayingA study released by the Roosevelt Institute finds that a universal basic income would not only grow the economy, but also increase the size of the labor force. These findings challenge two of the main arguments against UBI; that (a) it would harm the economy and (b) shrink the labor force seeing that it would likely influence people to not seek out employment. This is great news for proponents of UBI, and really bad news for its detractors; however, whether they like it or not, automation is going to lead to millions of jobs being lost throughout the country and UBI is the only solution—at this point—that would combat the mass poverty that would ensue.
