Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, Morris Day and the Time, Young MC — gone. Every single one of them gave the same reason: they had no idea it was a Trump event when they signed on. Bret Michaels said it "evolved into something much more divisive" than what he agreed to. The Commodores said they don't publicly affiliate with any single political party. Young MC said he thought he was playing a state fair.
And then there's Milli Vanilli — the act whose entire legacy is built on getting caught faking it — who said they were "shocked" to see their own name on the lineup.
This is what happens when you brand a national celebration as a loyalty test and forget that most working musicians will do the math.
