YouTube Description
as posted by the channelCenk Uyghur and Hasan Piker have been banned from entering the United Kingdom. Cenk was set to speak at SXSW London and give a speech at Oxford. Hasan had his visa revoked. And within hours of the news breaking, both of them went straight to the same answer: Israel did it. Not their own public records. Not years of inflammatory rhetoric. Not documented praise for terrorist organizations that the UK has formally designated as
such. No, Israel controls the UK government, and that is why they were banned.
The actual reason is a standard UK immigration policy that gives the government the right to deny entry to anyone whose presence is deemed 'not conducive to the public good.' This is not a new law invented for Cenk and Hasan. The UK has used it against Islamic imams, far-right activists, people accused of anti-Semitic rhetoric, and people accused of anti-Muslim rhetoric.
The woman who signed off on the ban is Shabana Mahmood, the UK's Home
Secretary and the first Muslim woman ever appointed to that position. Not exactly the profile of someone acting on behalf of Israel. There is a legitimate free speech conversation to be had here about how much discretion governments should have over who enters their borders, where the line is between extremism and protected speech, and whether public pressure campaigns should influence these decisions.
That is the debate adults should be having. But Cenk and Hasan are not having it. They are doing what they always do: turning every consequence into a Jewish conspiracy. And that framing — not their criticism of Israel, but the conspiracy framing is exactly what got them banned in the first place.
