Jeremy Hunt was Health Secretary under David Cameron and Theresa May, and oversaw controversial cuts to the health system as part of the austerity project which led to the junior doctors’ strike in 2016.
Under Boris Johnson - whom Hunt ran against in the 2019 Conservative leadership race - he chairs the Health and Social Care committee.
In this interview he speaks to Anoosh Chakelian, host of the New Statesman podcast, about his regrets over NHS social care cuts, how the government should respond to the cost of living crisis, partygate, and whether he would seek to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.
