As the Conservative leadership contest to replace Boris Johnson between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak continues, an exclusive leaked video shows the former chancellor saying that Labour “shoved all the funding into deprived urban areas” and that it “needed to be undone”.
Speaking to grassroots Tories in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on 29 July, the former chancellor Rishi Sunak said that he had “managed to start changing funding formulas” to make sure “areas like this are getting the funding they deserve”. The average house price in the affluent town was £528,459 at the end of last year, compared with a national average of £271,000.
