Veteran political campaigner Matthew McGregor, who has worked with both the Labour Party in the UK and the Democrats in the US, joins Rachel Wearmouth to discuss what Keir Starmer's Labour Party could learn from Joe Biden, particularly on their response to the worsening cost of living crisis and rising inflation.
Comparisons can also be drawn between Donald Trump and Boris Johnson, with both the US and the UK having gone through "big traumas from a democratic point of view and from an economic point of view"
McGregor points out where Starmer could be more active, observing that "the connection between the electorate and Keir Starmer doesn't seem to be there."
However McGregor does encourage looking beyond the US: "Our politicians would do well to learn as much from Anthony Albanese in Australia, Olaf Schultz and the SPD in Germany, Jacinda Ardern in New Zealand."
