On January 6th, 2024, the 46th President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden Jr. was formally invited by House Speaker Mike Johnson to address the 118th joint session of Congress. President Biden's speech will cover issues such as the economy, democracy, abortion rights, the United States–Mexico border crisis, the war between Ukraine and Russia, and the war between Israel and Hamas.
This will be President Biden's third "State of the Union," and it will be his fourth speech to a joint session of Congress. Seated behind the President will be Vice President, Kamala Harris, and House Speaker, Mike Johnson. Johnson will be presiding over the joint session, while Harris will be serving in her capacity as the president of the Senate.
First-term Republican Senator Katie Britt of Alabama will give the Republican response to President Biden's "State of the Union" address.
