At birth, the navel sits at approximately the midpoint of the human body. By adulthood it no longer does - because the body has grown into the divine proportion, the golden ratio encoded into mature human geometry. Take an infant's proportions - the oversized head, the navel positioned at the body's center - and scale them up to the size of a full grown adult. The result would be immediately recognizable as wrong. Something would look distinctly strange about that figure walking down the street. Randall’s implication is deliberate. The elongated skulls, the large cranial capacity, and the unusual bodily proportions described and depicted across ancient cultures - and found in the archaeological record - may not be deformity or modification. They may be the natural proportions of beings who simply never grew into the divine proportion that defines modern human development. What looks strange to us may have been entirely normal to them.
