At 12:01pm ET on July 1, Philadelphia will see its largest municipal worker strike in decades. Over 9,000 City workers represented by @afscme District Council 33 will walk off the job after their contract expires at midnight. DC 33 workers provide essential services across the city, from trash pickup and street repair to 911 dispatch, but workers and union reps say many employees struggle to afford living and making ends meet in the very city they serve. "There’s something wrong when a lot of our men and women are essentially the working poor inside this city," District Council 33 president Greg Boulware tells TRNN.
