He says that, at the time, the COVID numbers were going down, but now that they are spiking again he isn't happy with his own decision. Republican governor Asa Hutchinson from the state of Arkansas admitted this week that He made a big, big booboo by allowing himself to sign a ban on mask mandates in the state of Arizona or Arkansas, excuse me, not Arizona. Arizona has got its own problems right now. Asa Hutchison's dealing with his in Arkansas. Here's what he had to say. Well, I signed it at the time because our cases were at a very low point. I knew it would be overwritten by the legislator if I, legislature, if I didn't sign it. I already eliminated our statewide mask mandate. I signed it for those reasons that our cases were at a low point. Everything has changed now and yes, in hindsight, I wish that had not become law. Dude, if only you were in a position of power somehow in your state to where you could do something about it. But I guess as the leader of Arkansas, yeah, there's probably nothing you can do about it, right?

It's not like you could sign an executive order. It's not like you could go to Congress and be like, listen, hey cases are exploding here. Your voters are dying. Maybe let me put a mask mandate in place. Kids are getting ready to go back to school. Maybe we ought to take care of them. To hell with pandering to the idiots who say that, oh, wearing a mask is tyranny. It's oppression. Bull crap. And Asa Hutchinson I'm glad that finally, in hindsight, now that you see the ramifications of what you're doing, that you've changed your tune. That's a good thing. We do want to see that with these individuals. However, too little too late. There's nothing you can do to change what you've already done and that ladies and gentlemen is the problem with pandering to these idiotic anti maskers. Because if they're right, that masks don't do anything to slow the spread, nothing happens. If they're wrong, which they are, you could save lives.

So don't pander to the idiots. Don't give in to the extremists because you're going to end up in situations like this. State of Florida is a fantastic example. Our idiot governor has signed a ban on mask mandates. Threatened to pull funding from school districts who implement mask mandates as our children get ready to go back to school in the next week or two. But he's not backing down off his, even as his state is right now, the worst in the country, in new COVID cases, in hospitalizations and in death. But he's not going to back down because he's still pandering to idiots and politically it is costing him. His approval rating is plummeting. His poll numbers against his Democratic challengers for next year's gubernatorial election, he's losing now. And I think Asa Hutchinson understands that. Not just for himself, but for future Republicans who want to run for office, doesn't look good on the party if that party Is responsible for killing their base.
