Ted Cruz Is About To Bring About A Terrifying New Era In American Politics

Republican Senator Ted Cruz recently won a court case against the FEC that allows for candidates to reimburse themselves as much money as they want with absolutely no limits from their campaign funds. The FEC has made the foolish decision to appeal this ruling, and the Supreme Court agreed to take up the case this week. We've already seen how this Court rules on issues of campaign spending limits, so there is little doubt that they will do the right thing to preserve what little integrity we have left in the democratic process. There is a chance that Ted Cruz might bring about what could effectively be the end of the United States of America. As we know it, that's a weird thing to say, right? Ted Cruz could end this country, but trust me, this story I'm about to tell you absolutely could lead to that. And this story begins with a story we covered few months ago, and that was the Ted Cruz won a major legal victory at a lower court level saying that candidates can now reimburse any amount of money that they lend to their campaign. The cap previously was $250,000, but Ted Cruz has had lent his campaign in 2018 way more than $250,000. And so he said, oh, hell no, I want all my money back. And the court said, yeah, sure. Okay. You can get it all back. We'll get rid of the cap. But that was at the lower court.

The federal elections commission decided to appeal that ruling. And this week, the United States Supreme court said, yeah, we'll hear the case. Um, so bang up job there, FEC, by the way, I know you lost this one at the lower level, but trust me, this is one you should have just left there because we have seen how the most of the members on this Supreme court rule on a campaign finance issues, because most of these people are the ones that gave us citizens United. They gave us McCutchin. They gave us the rulings that essentially allowed for unlimited dark money to flood our elections. And now you're giving them the opportunity to strike down the cap on how much a candidate can reimburse themselves. And there's no question how this court is going to rule the cap is going to be gone. So what that means is it's going to open up the flood gates for millionaires and billionaires to run for office, to lend themselves ungodly amounts of money. And then they can just pay themselves back. All of it with the campaign. They're no longer going to be beholden to that $250,000 threshold. So you take somebody like Donald Trump, he loaned his campaign, millions of dollars. He wasn't able to get it all back. How dangerous is that man going to be when he can loan himself 500 million and then pay himself 500 million back?

Or what about Jeff Bezos? What about mark Zuckerberg? Zuckerberg seems to have political ambitions. We're going to force out non millionaires from the political process with this decision. That's, what's so terrifying about it. And when I say bring them out the end of the United States, that's what I'm talking

About because yes, I know most members of Congress are already millionaires, but there's a lot more wealthy people out there that would love to have just a little bit of power. They just don't want to give up their money to do it. And now they wouldn't have to. So thanks Ted Cruz. When this ruling comes down the pipeline from the Supreme court, it's going to be because of him. And of course the fools that the FEC you couldn't do, you know, just let sleeping dogs lie with this one. You lost, suck it up, move on. Don't let the Supreme court get their hands on it and make it the law of the land. And yes, I guess it probably was inevitable, but you didn't have to force it now you did. And I don't like where we're heading.
