Former Trump Staffers Defy Subpoenas From January 6th Committee

A group of 4 former Donald Trump staffers have defied subpoenas from the Select Committee investigating the events of January 6th. These individuals, which includes Steve Bannon and Mark Meadows, are setting up a showdown with the Committee to see who caves first. But the Committee has the law on their side, and they must do everything necessary to compel these individuals to turn over the information that the Committee is seeking. Four of Donald Trump's former advisors and staffers today have decided that they didn't want to comply with subpoenas from the January 6 select committee, by turning over documents that the committee had requested. Those documents, by the way, were due by noon today from individuals, including Steve Bannon, Kash Patel, who served as the acting chief of staff for the defense secretary on January 6, Mark Meadows, Donald Trump's former chief of staff and Dan Scavino, who was in charge of Donald Trump's social media while he was president of the United States. Those individuals were supposed to turn over any documents that they had relating to the events of January 6th. They were subpoenaed so this is a legal demand for the documents, not just a simple, hey, if you get a moment, why don't you let us see those? No. Okay. No, this was a legal demand and refusing to comply with a subpoena is punishable by law. So, get on it.

I mean, it's as simple as that, it really is. And I'm sick and tired of these committees acting like it's not. Make a phone call, make a request, send an email. I don't know how that process officially gets started. But get the US department of justice to round up these individuals and hold them in contempt, contempt of Congress. Charge them and don't drop the charges even if they comply at this point, don't do it. It's time to send a message to these Trump loyalists who continue to refuse to comply with subpoenas. We have seen this happening, you know, throughout the entire Trump administration. Nobody ever actually got in trouble. Nobody was actually investigated for defying a subpoena. Do you know what happens if you or I were to defy a subpoena? If a subpoena showed up at your house saying, you have to be in court at this time on this day, you are legally required to be there. Whether it's a witness, as a defendant, as a plaintiff, whatever it is, if you don't show up, you get arrested, they send the police to your house and you get arrested.

So why is that not happening with these individuals? That's what I want to know. And anybody else who refuses to comply and furthermore, Donald Trump has obviously been encouraging these individuals to not comply. Why is he not being charged with witness tampering? Because that's exactly what that is. These individuals are witnesses. The documents they have are relevant documents to this investigation. And Donald Trump is out there telling them do not comply. Now we don't know what follows do not comply. Is it do not comply or else? Either way that should be considered witness tampering and Trump should also get a visit from the department of justice. Democrats, don't drag your feet on this. Don't cave in on this. You have the law on your side and I suggest you use it to hold these individuals accountable.
