It's Time For Vaccine Mandates For Domestic Flights

Thousands upon thousands of flights were either cancelled or delayed over the holiday weekend thanks to the Omicron surge creating a shortage of airline workers. It is time for America to understand that a little "tough love" might be necessary in order to pull us out of the pandemic for good, and one of the ways we need to do that is with vaccine mandates for domestic air travel. We already have this for international travel, but clearly this isn't good enough. If people don't want to protect each other then they need to deal with the consequences, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

During an appearance over the weekend on ABC news, Dr. Anthony Fauci seemed to show his support for domestic vaccine mandates on flights, which means if you were to take a flight here in the United States, stay inside the United States for that flight, you would have to show a vaccine, you know, your little vaccine card or else you couldn't fly. Now, he didn't say we are going to do this. He didn't say we have to do this. All he said was that anything that could get more people vaccinated would be welcome. I'm gonna take it a step further than Fauci did just then. I think we should have vaccine mandates for domestic flights here in the United States. Over this holiday weekend on Saturday and Sunday, almost 10,000 flights were either significantly delayed or outright canceled because of airline staffing shortages due to COVID outbreaks. And yes, of course, the vaccine mandate, mandate, excuse me, need to extend to all airline workers, everybody from the pilot to the baggage handlers, from the flight attendants to the people who wave the plane in, I'm sorry, I don't know your official title.

Every one of them should also have to be vaccinated. If you work in an airport, if you work at one of the restaurants in an airport, if you work sweeping floors in an airport, if you're TSA, every one of them should also have to be vaccinated. And of course, anyone who steps foot in that airport with the intention of getting on an airplane should have to be vaccinated and leave the mask mandates in place as well. Nobody's getting harmed from the mask mandates, suck it up. I have actually flown many, many times this year. I've gone on vacations this year because I'm vaccinated, because I wear masks, because when I do travel, even when my family travels, we, we test regularly, constantly to make sure we are not infected and we're not infecting anybody else. It's simple. It's easy. And it's the least selfish thing we can do. We ain’t ever gonna get out of this pandemic, folks, if we don't start taking drastic measures. Nobody in this country, by the way, is, is given a constitutional right to fly.

So we're not even talking about hampering anybody's rights. We're not talking about doing anything that's even questionably legal because you have no right to fly. You need to get from New York to California, but you don't want to get vaccinated. Well, gas up the sedan, because that's gonna be one hell of a road trip for you. And that's what needs to happen. Virus is spreading like wildfire right now and we're gonna continue to see outbreaks like this, you know, ups and downs and ups and downs like we have seen for the last two years now, unless we do something dramatic, unless we basically force people to get vaccinated without actually having to force them. They still have a choice. You can still not get vaccinated. Things are just gonna be really uncomfortable and unpleasant and inconvenient for you because that's how you're making life for the rest of us. It's time to flip the field folks. Time to put it onto the unvaccinated rather than making the rest of us have to jump through these hoops, go through all the rigmarole of this.
