3:44Now PlayingThe Republican Party declined to be a part of the January 6th Select Committee (the efforts to create a bipartisan commission died in the Senate) but that won't stop them from releasing their own report about what happened that day. New reports say that Republicans in the House are considering drafting their own version of a "report" to release at the same time that the REAL committee's report is made public. One can only imagine what kind of nonsense the Republican report would contain. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

According to a new report by Axios, the Republican party, at least in the House of Representatives are planning to draft an alternative January 6th report to coincide with the summer release of the January 6th committees final report. And I say alternative like that because that's what they're calling it, an alternative report on January 6th. What they really should be calling it is an alternative reality report on January 6th. There's no doubt in my mind that their report is going to be filled with nonsensical BS that is based on absolutely no facts, no statistics, nothing. Just Republicans venting about how mad they are that the January 6th investigation took place at all. It is important to remember that Republicans had multiple opportunities to truly make this a bipartisan commission. Okay. Senate Republicans killed that.
And then of course, over in the House, Kevin McCarthy first said, I'm not gonna put any Republicans on it. Then he picked the worst Republicans imaginable, just because he wanted to off the committee and the committee said, no, we're, we're rejecting these folks. So he pulled all of his people off of it. You know, Jim Jordan was one of them and of course that's good reason they pulled him off. We now find, now find out he's neck deep in the scandal as well. He was one of the individuals that was working with Donald Trump to try to overturn the results of the election and he has now become a soft target of this investigation. So yeah, probably not the best guy to put on the committee. But Kevin McCarthy still has his feelings hurt. So why even bother though?
Remember when Republicans told us this past summer that, well, we're gonna conduct our own separate investigation of this and then they didn't do it. So how are you going to release a report on an investigation you didn't do? That's what's so funny to me. Like, you didn't do the thing that you said. You're like, we're going to make our own investigation and have our own committee. Okay. But you didn't. So what's gonna be in your report? Because you haven't done the legwork. You haven't done any depositions. You haven't subpoenaed anybody. You haven't talked to anybody. So what in God's name could you possibly put into a report when you didn't do your homework? You didn't read the assignment and you still think that we're supposed to take you seriously when you say that you're coming out with something that's gonna totally blow this one outta the water?
Ain't gonna happen folks. Well, the report may happen, but honestly, even right now, I don't even think they're serious. I think they're trying to scare the committee to be like, well we're putting out our own report. Mm-hmm. Y'all better watch out. Ooh. Yeah. Democrats are not scared. Liz Cheney, Kinzinger who are Republicans on the committee, they're not scared either. You can put out whatever the hell you want, because at the end of the day, we all know you didn't do the assignment. You haven't done your homework. You promised to start your own committee. You didn't even do that because you're a bunch of lazy individuals. So go ahead, put out your alternative reality report and let's see how much fun we can have absolutely tearing it apart.
